About us
In keeping with the philosophy of Comexi’s founder, Manel Xifra Boada and as a tribute to his principles of providing assistance to clients and the sector, in 2013 we founded the Manel Xifra Boada Technological Centre, Comexi CTec.
The inception dates back to 1999, when we created Serviflex, a company focused on providing training services in flexographic printing. Over the years, this service evolved into a broader concept, and in 2005 contemplated with the idea of having the completion be an overall view of sector support and growth. After labouring several years, consolidating the project, in January 2013, the Manel Xifra Boada Technological Centre was established with a demo hub in the surrounding area of Riudellots de la Selva, where Comexi has its central offices.
The services we offer at Comexi CTec cover the majority of the processes in the flexible packaging sector. These services can be divided into four principal areas:
- Consultancy
- Innovation Services
- Demo Center /Industrial Laboratory
- Training and Academic Activities
In 2020, Comexi CTec opened a new demo centre at the Comexi branch in Miami (Florida), in order to bring its services closer to its clients on the American continent.
Manel
Xifra Boada 1928-2005
Manel Xifra Boada was a charismatic businessmen who knew how to motivate and encourage his colleagues. He grasped how to create a sense of belonging for the flexible packaging community, and was also aware of the importance of working together to increase the technological level of the flexible packaging conversion and printing industry.
As part of his legacy, Manel Xifra Boada has given us a collective spirit of cooperation and the sharing of knowledge, which he successfully imparted to the professionals who knew him. For this reaseon, Comexi CTec is named after him.
A lifetime which we summarise into three primary legacies:
The company
The stimulus for the profession
The Innovation and Training Centre
1954
Manel Xifra i Boada establishes Comexi. Within a very short period, the company evolved from a small workshop that served the paper industry into a large-scale corporation.
Here began Comexi’s long history of leadership in the flexible packaging sector, with two clearly defined characteristics.
- Internationalization: the market is the world.
- Technology: innovation is a requirement.
2005
Comexi created the Manel Xifra i Boada Awards in 2005 to recognize engineering as a diffused, consolidated and distinct profession. They are established in 3 categories: Best Professional Career, Transmission of Scientific and Technical Knowledge, and the Best Final University Project acknowledgment given by the Polytechnic Superior School of the UdG (University of Girona). At the first edition, Mr. Xifra was given the award posthumously.
